Denver air conditioner replacement
Replacing your central air conditioner.
Compare the outdoor unit, indoor coil, blower and ducts as one system.
Send AC photos ↗
Send the whole outdoor unit, thermostat display, indoor equipment and any visible ice or water. Leave panels closed.
What is included?
See the two paths in a split cooling system.
Room air stays indoors, circulating through the blower, coil and ducts. A paired refrigerant line carries heat to the outdoor unit.

ENERGY STAR recommends right-sizing equipment, checking airflow and evaluating ducts. AHRI explains that the outdoor unit and indoor coil form a certified matched combination.

- 01
The rating belongs to a combination.
The outdoor model and indoor coil or fan coil create the rated cooling system. The AHRI reference or certificate identifies that exact combination.
- 02
Describe rooms, not just square footage.
Mark which rooms are uncomfortable, when direct sun reaches them, and whether supply airflow feels different from nearby rooms.
- 03
Airflow crosses every indoor part.
The blower moves return air through the filter and coil into the supply ducts. ENERGY STAR treats airflow verification as part of quality installation.
What has changed with your cooling?
Choose what you have noticed. See what to record and which checks should come before a repair or replacement recommendation.
What you can observe.
- Name the rooms and time of day.
- Note closed doors, direct sun, and whether air reaches each supply register.
- Photograph registers and the filter; do not remove covers.
What the technician should check.
- Room-by-room temperature pattern
- Supply and return airflow or static pressure
- Filter, coil, blower, and accessible duct condition
ENERGY STAR identifies airflow, refrigerant charge, ducts, controls, coils, and condensate drainage as relevant maintenance or quality-installation checks. The applicable tests depend on the system and symptom.
Repair / maintenance record
- Some rooms stay warmer
Ask whether maintenance, airflow correction, controls, or a component repair addresses the observed cause.
AC or heat pump?
Both provide cooling. A heat pump can also heat the house. If a gas furnace remains, the contractor must explain equipment compatibility and how controls select the heat source.
Compare the two scopes →Keep the comparison tied to the same house, indoor equipment and installation scope.
Show the symptom and both halves of the system.
Send one wide outdoor photo, one wide indoor-equipment photo, readable model labels, and any quote you want reviewed.
Schedule an estimate ↗Your home. Your estimate.
Send photos of your AC.
Upload equipment-space photos, model labels, or a proposal through UniColorado’s Plenum form.

Equipment labels and a photo of the closed electrical panel help, too. Leave covers in place.
