Where the prices come from
The price ranges come from our recent estimates in the Denver area, before rebates. Each range leaves out the cheapest quarter and the most expensive quarter of those estimates, so half of them land inside it. The ranges for a heat pump with a new gas furnace and for a ducted heat pump follow our current pricing instead. Out-of-pocket figures are what most Xcel gas customers in the Denver metro have paid since October 1, 2026, after every rebate. Income-qualified jobs with very large rebates are left out, and groups with too little data are not shown. The heat pump chart shows the share of jobs each year that included a heat pump, a straight AC, or a furnace with an AC. The rebate bars show how often each program was included on our heat pump estimates in the last 12 months, and leave out programs that have ended. None of this is a quote for your house.
Rebates change, sometimes mid-year. Xcel Energy lowered its heat pump bonus for Xcel gas customers on October 1, 2026, so check current amounts before you compare prices.
